Have you tried Elli Quark yet?

Elli Quark reminds me somewhat of the fromage blanc I was served with fruit while visiting a friend in England many years ago.  I tried for years to find something as good in the States but never really found what seemed to me to be an equal.  The company that sells Elli Quark describes it as "a spoonable fresh cheese with a creamy texture similar to Greek yogurt but with a richer, less sour taste".  While I love Greek yogurt it is nice to have some variety and an alternative for recipes where you may want less of the tang Greek yogurt imparts.  The Elli Quark comes flavored (with stevia and erythritol – no sugar) and in a plain, unsweetened version with one 6 ounce container of the plain giving you 17 grams protein and 200 mg. calcium in 90 calories.  It is fat free with 60 mg. sodium in the plain version.  It is also GMO and rBST free.   I prefer to eat the plain and add my own fruit and flavorings but the flavored versions are a good choice for when you need something healthy to eat and aren’t in a setting where it is easy to add your own fruit – like when traveling or working. 

I toasted a 100% whole grain English muffin and topped it with Quark, sweetened with a small amount of honey, and fresh, sliced strawberries.  It made me think I was eating Strawberry Shortcake for Breakfast.  Very good.  Quark with fruit and a sprinkle of granola or nuts and seeds makes a great Breakfast or high protein snack. The company has a Pinterest page with lots of good recipe ideas.  I highly recommend trying Quark.  It is another great way to get the calcium and protein needed for healthy bones.
